DRUMFUNK [sammary]
Drumfunk is a sub genre of drum &
bass music. The term was born in around 1999 - 2000, when drum funk
itself began to grow. Drum funk characterised as a break beats which
sound like they are being played live on a drum kit, but are usually
composed with samples which have been processed and rearranged by
computer software. The first drum funk track - 'Witchcraft' was made by
Krust and Roni Size in 1994.
As a sub genre of d`n`b, it is usually much more complicated than the normal drum patterns and the accent in song is made on the drums rather than the melodies.
The main drum funk artists such as: Paradox, Fracture and Neptune, Equinox, Danny Breaks, Digital, Sickhead, Sativa, Destroy2k, Ghostrider, Sub, Sum, Seba, Macc, Fanu, Senses, Chris Inperspective and KJ Sawka.
The most important and influential labels in drum funk are Paradox Music, 13 Music, Inperspective, Outsider, Offshore, Subtle Audio, Secret Operations, Forestry Service, Counter Intelligence, Bassbin, Breakin, Subvert Central Recordings and Lightless Recordings.
